Dr Khurram Hameed graduated from the University of Sussex in 2006 with a MSc Degree in Embedded Digital Systems technology.   Subsequently Dr Hameed joined the Intelligent Systems Research Laboratory to pursue his PhD research focused on “Hardware Architecture Optimisation for Efficient Pattern Matching”.  In July 2010, Dr Hameed concluded his PhD studies at the ISR Laboratory.

Dr Hameed’s research interests include Hardware Design, Image Processing, Partial Reconfiguration of FPGAs, Ternary Computing Machines, and Biologically-Inspired Vision Systems. He also maintains an interest in astronomy and space science, particularly cosmological phenomena such as various planets and their constellations.

Dr Hameed is a faculty member at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Engineering (CASE, http://www.case.edu.pk) where he leads his own research group in FPGA-enabled real-time vision research.

Dr Hameed’s research contributions at ISR have been mainly in the area of hardware acceleration of real-time pattern matching algorithms; in particular within the framework of the FastMatch Project, exploring efficient architectures for string matching algorithm to serve ultra-high-speed Network Intrusion Detection Systems.
